Every month I shine a spotlight on one of my favorite artists/designers. These are people whose work inspires me and drives my design style. I hope you find inspiration through their work and an appreciation for all the very talented artists/designers out there!
This month's artist spotlight goes to Angel Kloczko. She was born in Germany and came to the U.S. as a young military wife and mother. Angel has raised four children and has spent most of her years in the American Southwest. After retiring and wanting a change of scenery, she moved with her son and daughter-in-law to the Inland Northwest a few years ago. She says she loves the change of seasons and the abundance of nature.
Speaking with Angel, she said, "creating beauty with my hands has always given me great pleasure. I fabricated silver jewelry, worked with stained glass, hooked rugs, made macrame hangings, and sewed my family's clothing when I was younger".
Since her retirement, she has been experimenting with many art forms like photography, acrylic painting, resin art, and drawing, but the one that inspires me the most is her Zentangle nature-inspired artwork. The Zentangle Method is a relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns while focusing on each stroke as it is drawn. It increases focus and creativity and provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. The Zentangle Method is enjoyed all over this world across a wide range of skills, interests, and ages.
Angel's Zentangles are hand-drawn small lines and curves with multi-point ink pens and then she uploads it to create a digital file to use for all the different mediums that you can purchase.
I love the natural whimsey of the lines and curves. Each piece has a magical, mystical happiness about it. Having these little pieces of nature placed about your home will make you smile each day!
I am proud to tell you that I will be carrying a curated collection of her pillows, tea towels, and digital prints in our shop. Make sure to pick one up for your home or as a gift for someone else!
