I wanted to share this color series with you all because the Sherwin Williams Color Mixes for 2023 will be coming out soon, and they have already released the professional version, which I will share with you later. So you will get all the goods from me as they are released....
Before you can even begin to understand the color palette for your space, you need to understand your style. What are the colors you like, and how can they go together? And this is not about trends. It is about you and what makes you uniquely you!
It's like the movie 'The Women'. Have you seen it? Where Meg Ryan is trying to figure out who she is beyond a wife and mom. She starts to create a vision/mood/style board, which morphs into her dream fashion collection! If you haven't seen it, check it out.
This exercise doesn't have to be planned or complicated. The only thing that needs to be done is to decide whether you want a physical board, a digital one, or both.
Physical Board - make your board: cork board, foam board, or open wall space in your home to tape on.
Digital Board - create a Pinterest account and start a board. Remember that you want to ensure everything is on one board and not spread over many. Because later, you will want to view everything together to get a style theme that can speak to you! If Pinterest isn't your thing, you can create it yourself in word or docs. Easy as inserting pictures. They don't even need to be organized. Just insert. Here is a simple template.
The last thing to remember is that this exercise isn't just about what you like in home decor. It's about all of the things you may love. Click a pic of your favorite dress or scarf. What about your favorite restaurants or the views from your hikes or walks on the beach? Anything and everything that speaks to you!
You will be amazed at how much you learn about yourself during this process. Your design style for sure, but more about your inner self, even better!
This exercise is not your average home-style quiz online.
